Tran Thi Hue: Vietnam’s First Miss HIV

This is just a quick outtake from a portrait session I had with Tran Thi Hue, Vietnam’s first Miss HIV pageant winner and a leading AIDS activist in the north. There’s a lot to say about her but I’ll save that for the writer. My words certainly wouldn’t do her life much justice. She had a radiant smile and she spoke to the writer candidly and openly about all that she had been through, from her finding out she was infected to her husband dying, the birth of her second child and much much more. The portraits happened quickly. The above image was for me a nice frame.
