I arrived back in Hanoi from Mai Chau yesterday afternoon. I’m still going through most of my images, but here are a few quiet and verdant landscape shots from the drive there and back. The first hour and a half out of the capital is pretty terrible, but after that the road opens up into the mountains and valleys of northwestern Vietnam and life in general gets to be pretty damn OK.
It was nice to get away. I’ll be posting more over the next few days. Farmers, sunsets, swimming and more.
it is a beautiful place , beautiful greenery , nice photos.
I don’t spend a lot of time in the north and I’ve been thinking about this area. It sounds like a nice area to get away from the city, and perhaps fewer tourists than the Sapa area. Any thoughts or insights?
Hey Lucas, from Hanoi it’s about a 3-4 hour drive on a motorbike, or just under if you hire a car or go with a group tour. I think it’s great and highly recommend it. For me, half the fun is the drive out, so I would say take a bike and stop a lot along the way to enjoy the scenery. Hope that helps.
